MEET THE BREWER
TONY BLACKETT
After years working in the for-purpose sector—his last role as CEO of Hokotehi Moriori Trust on Rēkohu, Chatham Island—Tony returned to Coromandel with his wife Justine to build something local, small-scale, and rooted in community. A homebrewer for over 30 years, he saw a chance to turn passion into livelihood and pour that into a brewery for the town and the peninsula. It’s beer with purpose—and a place to call home.

Set Up and ready to brew
SHOW TIME
When the old butcher’s shop in Coromandel Town came up for sale—right next door to the iconic Pepper Tree—it felt like the perfect spot. After navigating the joys of Resource Consent (turns out breweries aren’t standard in pedestrian zones), we bought the building and headed to China to source our brewhouse in Jinan. A practically new building went up inside the bones of the old, and by the end of 2024 we were brewing—and pouring pints next door a couple of weeks later. Big thanks to Mike and Karen from the Pepper Tree and the Star & Garter, who backed us from day one. Now there’s a couple of our taps in each. Brewed here—poured next door.

BREWED AND CANNED ON SITE
FROM GRAIN TO GLASS
Everything happens under one roof—from grain to glass (or can). We brew and can right here in Coromandel Town, keeping things fresh and local. Our tasting room and refillery is a relaxed spot to try what’s new, refill your rig, or grab a few cans to take home. We’re a plastic-free operation (though if you bring your own bottle—even plastic—we’ll happily fill it). We also have refillable glass bottles available to buy, reuse, and keep the good stuff flowing with less waste.
